Angelic Choir

G and I went to Vespers and Mass yesterday evening at Trinita dei Monti.  The monks and nuns who care for the church now are from a French order that took over 6 years ago from Sacred Heart nuns.  They are a group of men and women who have outside careers and then live in community (separately).  They all wear white habits, are very peaceful and friendly (they walk all around the church at the peace) have THE MOST amazing voices. (Probably they don't have to audition to have a vocation-haha :-) but I imagine it would be hard to be part of that group and squawk out notes!)

It is a transcendent worship experience. I'm so happy that we were there.

On a differnet note--I will not go into why it would be so much easier if  all Catholics worldwide used Latin...but since that is not the case,  I do find that attending Mass in languages that I really don't understand (in this case, French) does not in any way diminish the prayer.  I know what is happening and find that it is somewhat liberating not to have to pay such close attention to what is being said...or listen to the homily (sorry Fr Reid).  My mind seems to wander in a very positive and prayerful way.  Does anyone else have this experience? Well, back to the Mass. There were not as many people as those hanging out on the Spanish Steps right below (crazy!) but it was a very well-attended. Please go there if you are in Rome!  It is a beautiful church and the tabernacle is Massive and gorgeous.  And, their candles in front of the chapels are multi-colored glass on wrought iron tree-like stands-really a standout!  How fun to pick out a pretty color (purple and orange!! ) and say a prayer too.
